Arc Strike Repair

"Arc Strike Repair" is essential to be performed when "arc strike" is present on the outside of welding grooves and it should be totally removed to avoid any metallurgical effect on the steel products.

Nusantara Technologies Laboratory has skilled personnel to conduct "Arc strike Repair" on the product to ensure the quality is of as you expected.

What Is Arc Strike?

Definition : A localized coalescence outside the weld zone

“Arc strike” is commonly used to describe a mark left on the metal caused by misplaced arcs being started outside the weld area.

Weld quality is very significant to the steel welding industry. Major parts of a weld come under a high level of inspection. However, the surface of the steel on both sides of the weld is also important. No arc strikes should be made on this surface. Arc strikes outside of the weld groove are considered to be defects by the steel industry. Arc strikes form small hardness spots that, if not re-melted by the weld, will lead to intergranular attack as the product expands and contracts with heat and pressure changes. Thus, they are a defect and must be removed and the area repaired.
